What can the Home Energy Makeover Contest winners expect? They can look forward to saving at least 30 percent on energy costs and enjoying a home that’s comfortable in every season.

The first step was a 3-4 hour whole-house assessment. A Home Performance with ENERGY STAR^® contractor tested and evaluated each home inside and out to identify where it’s wasting energy.

Based on the results, the winners will receive a customized package of home improvements that may include:

• High-efficiency gas furnace or electric heat pump
  
• Energy-efficient electric water heater or tankless gas water heater
  
• High-performance windows
  
• Insulation, air sealing and duct sealing
  
• Energy-saving lighting
  
• Water-saving improvements
